Meerut: A wedding celebration in UP’s Budaun district descended into chaos after a stray dog sneaked into the venue and started attacking guests during the bride’s farewell ceremony, leaving over 30 people injured.
The incident took place at a banquet hall near Malaiya Wale Baba temple on Bilsi Road in Bisauli town on Wednesday. After the incident, enraged villagers beat the dog to death.
Bisauli community health centre in-charge,
Anil Kumar, said all the injured were brought to the medical facility and administered first aid along with anti-rabies injections. Some victims also sought treatment at private hospitals. “Several people suffered injuries after they fell on the ground following chaos. All are stable,” he said.
Eyewitnesses said the dog suddenly entered the venue and began biting people, sparking panic among a large section of the guests. Women, children and elderly persons were among the injured.
The animal then continued its rampage outside the venue, attacking passersby, shopkeepers and customers, and later moved towards a nearby village where it also attacked cattle. Locals claimed the stray had bitten people earlier too and alleged that despite repeated complaints, authorities failed to respond or capture it.
